Interview Fashion Tips for Men

Men need to make sure they dress well for a job interview. Even if the dress code is casual there, you want to dress up for it. This gives the employer a good impression of you and lets them know you are serious about the job. It also gives you a more professional look. Therefore they are going to view you as someone that can get the job done on an ongoing basis.

One of the biggest mistakes that men make when it comes to job interviews has to do with their hair. If you are a man with long hair, it needs to be combed properly and clean. You may want to pull it into a ponytail as well. Avoid wearing bandanas or hats to any job interview though. It will make you appear sloppy and unprofessional.

Facial hair is another area to seriously look at. Now, you don’t necessarily have to remove all of if you don’t want to. However, any beard or mustache needs to be trimmed and well groomed. If you aren’t keeping them looking nice then shave completely for your job interviews. Many men forget to take a close look at their nails before they go to a job interview. This is something you don’t want to overlook so take note of that.

Many men don’t pay close attention to their shoes when they go for a job interview. They may have on a nice outfit but dirty work boots to finish off the look. A nice pair of boots or shoes will help you to have a look that is very presentable and that you can be proud of. They should fit well too because if you can’t walk well in them it is going to be obvious. Shoe polish can help to hide scuffs or marks if you don’t have newer shoes to wear.

Wearing a pair of nice dress pants with a matching shirt, tie, and jacket is the way to go. You will appear very professional in such an outfit. You need to have at least a couple of great outfits that you can wear for such a purpose. Make sure these items fit well so that you don’t look unprofessional. For example the lengths of the sleeves and the bottom of the pants needs to be given some attention. You also need to make sure that your tie is straight.

Keep in mind that not all colors are flattering on people. For example a light blue shirt may work well for your skin tone. However, darker blue or a yellow may make you look washed out. Ask someone you value for their opinion about what you seem to look the best in so that you are very ready for you job interview. You can finish your look by carrying a small briefcase if you like.

Avoid wearing strong fragrances to an interview as well. What you normally wear may smell good to you but the interviewer may find it too powerful. It is best to just have on some deodorant and to skip everything else for that period of time. This may seem like a small thing but it is one that has affected the perception about a person being interviewed, even if it is subconsciously.

If you have any piercings, take them out before you go to a job interview. While you may think it is unfair, they can give you an unfair evaluation from the interviewers prospective. The only jewelry that you should consider wearing to a job interview is a wedding ring, a watch, and cuff links. Likewise, if you have any tattoos make sure your clothing will cover them up.

When you look very neat and presentable you will be taken seriously at your job interview. Also, your appearance won’t be a distraction so the person conducting the interview will be able to fully focus on what you are telling them.
